What’s up guys? Jon here again. Looks like US electric motorcycle manufacturer ZEV has laid claim to building the fastest battery-powered motorcycle on the planet – the ZEV7000. And they are issuing you all a challenge.
The company is keen to promote the fact, challenging rival electric motorcycle manufacturers saying: “We tell them to bring their street legal production bike and to bring their betting money. There can be only one ‘fastest’ street legal production electric motor scooter or bike in the world.”
So what sort of speeds will this baby achieve? They claim in excess of 70mph. HUH?
Okay, but check it out. The bike’s top speed is a bit of a disappointment, yes, but just check the torque figure: 135ft-lbs. To put that into perspective a 2010 YZF-R1 produces 49-ft-lbs LESS.
The ZEV7000 has a range of around between 65 miles between charges, which takes 25 minutes for 75 percent, or around 2 hours for a full charge. It will cost $7,237 USD.

You expressed disappointment in the speed. We said that it only ran +70 as we were hoping for a challenge from the competition. None came. So the truth is that it will run 74-75 mph with a 6 ft tall, 185 lb rider sitting bolt upright. Tuck in behind the windscreen and it will run 80 mph. All in a 1/3rd mile standing start (.4 km).
