Police Raid Bike Thief’s Housewritten by -- July 7th, 2009Filed under: News & Opinions | Comments (1) |

What’s up people? I’ve got some interesting news from our brothers across the pond. Motorcycle News (MCN) has witnessed first hand how modern bike thieves operate after joining a police raid in a leafy, well-to-do suburb of a southern English town last week.
You usually see them smashing doors down on COPS, but for the real thing, they actually knocked! Two boys in blue covered the back of the house; five waited at the front, all wearing vests or harnesses with cuffs and other scary stuff.

We are told the event was peaceful enough. The trader’s partner opened the door as he’d already gone to work. While two of the local police went to arrest him, the other five started the search. There’s no nice way to invade someone’s space, and with a daughter still asleep upstairs and five officers hunting round the house, the lady was white with shock. The guys gave her as much dignity as possible, and checked the garden first.
The local coppers came back and told MCN their man wasn’t that surprised at being arrested, really. And that he was actually a nice guy. The hurt in his victims’ voices later that day told a different story.

That R6 was someone’s pride and joy once. It’s the time invested in maintenance and cleaning that’s the killer, not the inevitable insurance loss.
It’s such a shame that we have all paid for this in insurance premiums and police time. By the organized nature of these scams, he’ll be found to have a minor handling role and get away with 3-5 years max, I reckon. Justice?
The moral? Lock your bike to something solid and don’t loan out your bikes to immature idiots.

I hope all bike thieves get caught and thrown in jail to get ass raped.
