Italian Quality, Japanese Pricewritten by -- February 10th, 2010Filed under: News & Opinions | Comments (0) |
Hi guys! Ever since Ducati lowered the required maintenance on their bikes, made their bikes more affordable, but kept coming out with cool designs, they have been doing really well. In fact, they out sold many Japanese manufacturers as of late. Where Suzuki is cutting back, Ducati has been pumping out new models left and right.
So, it is not surprising that the new Multistrada keep with the same theme of affordability. In addition to combining the capabilities of a superbike, a bicycle, a chair and a tank into one motorcycle, the $14,995 Ducati Multistrada 1200 is also going to be relatively inexpensive to service. Thanks to a new valve seat material and improved combustion efficiency, the Testastretta 11° engine can now go 15,000 between valve clearance inspections. In comparison, both the Ducati 1198 and the previous air-cooled Multistrada required valve inspection every 7,500 miles.

The looks of the bike have greatly improved from version one, so we here have become more impressed with knowledge of every new feature. The 150bhp twin weighs just 417lbs. and comes equipped with push-button adjustment of the power delivery, suspension travel, suspension settings, traction control and anti-lock brakes. All that means it’ll be a killer sport tourer, a fun commuter and even a bike capable of light off-roading.
Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to check out Ducatist for more information.
