Here, watch this first:

When you tell people you ride a performance motorcycle, even your grandma will think of a Yamaha R1. It’s an icon. It is the sportbike. The ultimate stereotypical crotch rocket. There are at least three or four in every riding group. It is the first bike you ever wanted. It is just that damn cool.

The Yamaha R1 really shot to the top of the pack in 2004 when the dual undertailed dream machine arrive don the scene. And since then, it has stylistically been unchanged. So imagine just how big a deal it is for everyone in 2009 when it received a complete revamp!

I guess the most notable feature of the all new 2009 R1 is that it is the first ever production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology, which was first pioneered in MotoGP racing with the M1, puts each connecting rod 90° from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This eliminates undesirable inertial crankshaft torque, which allows the engine’s compression torque to build smoothly and provide a very linear power delivery out of the corners. It’s like having two engines in one: the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw, high-rpm power of an inline four.

There’s really nothing I can tell you other than that. The rest is on Yamaha website, so let’s just see the colors offered and we’ll show you the real deal in a few months! Since the 848, white has been pretty popular.

And of course, let’s not forget Ymaha’s flagship color, blue!

Alright guys, peace out!
