How to Change Tank Mount

So we went to bolt up the tank to the frame and found that the holes didn’t line up. The culprit was a bent and mangled tank mount bracket. The son of a gun lied about it being in perfect condition. @$$h01e!!! So anyways, we made a call to Triumph and everything was kosher.

So here is an update on our 2006 Triumph Daytona 675 Track Project Bike. We had everyone here today working on their Triumphs; from Street Triples to Speed Triples to this 675. Enjoy! Oh, and special thanks once again to John Burkle from Burkle Motorsports.

We tried again today to fit the Universal Ohlins Steering Damper on the 675 and we actually made some progress with the help of John from Burkle Motorsports. He is going to make a custom mounting kit this week with the measurements he took today and we’ll try it again next week!

Got this nifty little piece from Triumph today. It’s a sheet of carbon fiber encased in hard enamel. Attaches to the tank with seven 0.5″ x 0.5″ double sided tape squares. Not much of a “padding” but it does prevent tank scratches. It is actually very durable, as I tried to mark it with my belt and keys and it’s still as good as new! Can’t wait to install it but have to wait until the bike gets painted first.
