Good Bye Street Triple…

So, we were able to find the girl that hit my bike (Yes, I am AWESOME! – Ed), and her insurance company accepted fault. Unfortunately, the bike was determined to be a total-loss… I’ll have to part ways with the Street Triple. I sure hope she doesn’t end up rotting in a junkyard.

I loved everything about this bike. From the styling to the sound, the Street Triple was beautiful. She will forever be the standard I use to compare any other bike I ride.

You know what they say. You’ll never forget your first.




    Help! Triumph Street Triple Update

    It’s been an unlucky week for me. I was the victim of a hit-and-run. I’m not hurt, but the bike is. Check out the damage and the story below.

    My bike was parked near the exit for the WaMu parking lot. (It was the one in West Portal for those who know SF). Some lady coming out of the driveway hit my bike!!! I didn’t see it happen. All I heard was Dan and Alex yelling and then running off. Alex said she initially stopped when she hit the bike, but once he and Dan started yelling, she just ran. The stupid b**** sped off!!! I filed a police report but they can’t do much if they can’t identify her. All I could get was a partial plate. I’ll be staking out that WaMu to see if she comes back…

      My Leaning Progress

      Just wanted to give you all an update on how I’m doing with leaning on my Triumph Street Triple. When I first started riding, I had a lot of trouble leaning to the right. You could really tell I favored the left side by looking at my rear tire. After about 2 months of riding, here’s what my rear tire looks like. These are pics from the IPM staff ride this past weekend.

      It looks pretty even. Not bad for a beginner, right?

        Trying out the Gilles Tooling Rearsets

        Here’s a quick video of the Triumph Street Triple after the Gilles Tooling rearset install. I took the bike around the block to test the rearsets out.

        Even riding such a short distance, I can tell what a huge upgrade over stock these rearsets are. They feel sturdier and look better. I didn’t like the way the Gilles Tooling rearsets were adjusted out of the box, as the distance between the rear brake lever and the foot peg felt a little too short. But, I can always fix that since the rearsets are fully adjustable!

          2008 Triumph Street Triple Update

          It was such a nice day out that all of us at IPM decided to go riding. We found a mountain road where we did some high speed riding and twisties.

          I was able to rev my Triumph Street Triple to about 10 or 11,000 RPM. Those blue gear-change lights look nice! I’m getting better with leaning — the sides of my rear tire are pretty even. Check out the video.
