What’s going on guys? I always knew that we were more likely to get into accidents during the summer months, but was thoroughly surprised at what the number one cause is.

A British car insurance company claims that male drivers have far more accidents in the summer than women do. The alleged reason: dudes are distracted by ladies’ short skirts.

The source of this crap, yes crap, is the Telegraph, who based their report on information obtained from an insurance company called Sheilas’ Wheels.

According to the data, men made 16.4% more claims last summer than in other seasons. And while 25% of men said they’d had an accident or near-accident in the summer over the last five years, only 17% of women said the same.

These stats don’t really seem all that conclusive to me. I mean, how big is this insurance company? Do they have ten clients? Or ten thousand? I just thought I’d share this with you guys. Makes for amusing reading, no? Plus, it gave me the excuse to post up that picture above.

Stay tuned for more updates. But, just to be safe guys, keep your eyes on the road and away from the honeys while riding.

What’s going on guys? Remember how excited I got by the Dark Knight motorcycle suit? Well, from the same company now comes the Iron Man Motorcycle Suit. A supposedly “screen accurate” replica of the Mark V suit Tony throws on in Monaco to battle Mickey Rourke. Check it out.

I know. Not so impressive, considering the “real” one was made of metal and CGI’d. And it is expensive too; the entire getup sets you back $1,099. But for that, you do actually get what appears to be a functional motorcycle suit. There’s CE armor, thick leather and stretch inserts that will enable you to move around your bike.

The entire suit comprises of six individual pieces. The jacket and pants are separate. And then you got the pair of gloves and boots.

According to the website, the suit have etreme form molded leather detailing, pearl red and silver aluminum metallic leather, light sensitive reflective accents, and heavy duty stretch spandex inserts.

Unfortunately the suit doesn’t collapse neatly into a brief case. It is made from grade A cowhide, breathable mesh cordura, and has a removable interior vest.

Cool enough. But I want to know is, WTF is the helmet? That’s the coolest part of the costume. Oh well, I guess I could always contact the maker of the one from the video below.

Hey guys, Jon here again. Remember the tablecloth trick that the BMW S1000RR did? Well, not to be outdone, the folks over at Aprilia came out with their own video. Both European manufacturers released brand new liter bikes in the same year and have been doing battle both on the sales floor and the race track ever since. Check out Aprilia’s video.

So how does Aprilia benefit from this video? Satire, duh. BMW has proven that it can build a proper sportbike with its 193-horsepower S1000RR. The Bavarian company has also shown its marketing chops, most memorably with the viral tablecloth video we featured a few months back.

But it’s Aprilia that has the greater racing experience, and that’s coming forth this season in competition. Presently, the Italian marque is leading the Superbike manufacturer’s championship with its RSV4 while BMW is second to last. So who has the last laugh?

Hi guys, Paul here again with some disturbing but funny motorcycle related news. A young man in Bavaria who reportedly forgot to take his depression medication had the cajones to taunt a group of Hells Angels at their clubhouse.

He reportedly dropped his pants, threw a puppy at the bikers, and then made his getaway in a stolen bulldozer. Yes, I don’t know which is the dumbest move.

The story goes that the 26-year-old drove onto the biker clubhouse grounds over the weekend in Allershausen, a town just north of Munich. There the student pulled down his Bermuda shorts, mooning a group of bikers before throwing a puppy at them. Yeah dudes, a puppy.

Then the man fled the scene, stopped at a construction site, and rode off in a bulldozer. But his slow pace caused a traffic jam. After making it a little more than a mile and a half along the highway, the man hitched a ride with a truck, which let him off at his home in Eching, where the police apprehended him.

He was checked into a psychiatric clinic for treatment. Meanwhile, not to worry folks, the puppy he tossed at the bikers is being cared for by the local animal shelter.

Wow, it’ll be a long time till I visit Munich. I hate to think that they let crazy yahoos like this guy have the run of the town. I would definitely look into check what’s around the area, maybe look up local business reviews as well.

Anyways, I am just glad the puppy is okay and the police got to the guy before the bikers did.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Hey guys, Jon here again with some disturbing news this time. Apparently, there’s now a pill out there that some experts think could ‘cure‘ you of motorcycling. WTF, right?

I am serious. The new drug is called co-trimoxazole and has been proven to be ten times more effective than previous remedies against the condition known as Toxoplasmosis. It is a bacterial infection Dr. Robert Sapolsky of Stanford University says is unusually common in motorcyclists, and which he believes could have contributed to our desire for speed.

Toxoplasma is a parasite that makes infected rats appear to want to get closer to their chief predator, cats. Infected rodents become sexually attracted to cat urine, and take uncharacteristic risks in the presence of their feline nemesis. The behavior change is believed to be driven by the infection’s desire to climb up the food chain.

Dr. Sapolsky believes that motorcyclists have a high probability of being infected with Toxoplasmosis, and that infected people are “three to four times more likely to be killed in car accidents involving reckless speeding” suggesting the condition is key to our appetite for risky speed.

“What is the bottom line on this? Well, it depends; if you want to overcome some of your inhibitions, Toxo might be a very good thing to have in your system.

“You want to know something utterly terrifying? The U.S. Military is interested in Toxo. And I would think they would be intrigued, studying a parasite that makes mammals perhaps do things that everything in their fiber normally tells them not to because it’s dangerous and ridiculous and stupid and don’t do it.”

So how do you get Toxoplasmosis? Why from cat or rodent feces of course. There’s another reason why dog is man’s best friend. Damned cats… Anyways, the infection generally goes untreated, and is one of humanity’s most prevalent infections, but the variances are interesting.

For example, Great Britain has a Toxoplasma infection rate of 6.6%, but in bike-loving France it’s 45%. Road deaths are also 68% higher in France than in the United Kingdom. Correlation? Maybe.

All right guys, stay tuned for more updates.

Hi guys, I am sure by now you have all seen this motorcycle insurance commercial, as it has been showing on all major cable television channels for a while now. It has been dubbed, “Ghost Bikes” because it shows various motorcycles being thrown against public property without the riders.

Check it out.

Allstate claims that the commercial is not about discouraging people from riding. It is about riding uninsured. AllState would love more people to ride a bike AND drive a car. Duh, so they can charge you more for life insurance.

There has been much heated debate over the internet over this commercial. Whatever side you take, it really has accomplished its purpose: give more media attention to Allstate.

But hey, this is the Internet generation and copies have leaked to the web.

I can’t help but cringe each time de Angelis’s head drove into the ground over and over again. It’s amazing that de Angelis lived and walked away with hardly a scratch. He wanted to participate in the race, but despite finding nothing wrong with the rider, circuit doctors did not allow him to ride.

Well check out this motorcycle rider. This guy is already dead. Instead of giving him a traditional wake by sticking his corpse in a coffin, he was stuffed and mounted on his CBR600. Creepy, eh?

Not to worry though. He is not prepetuating the stereotype. He was shot to death in his native Puerto Rico. Totally non motorcycle related.

Hey guys, Jon here again with a funny video. By tradition, the Milwaukee Brewers’ traditional sausage race, in which a hot dog, chorizo, bratwurst, Polish sausage and Italian sausage all compete for ground meat glory almost turned tragic on Monday.

One of the participants was hit by a motorcycle during the vent. It gets worse. The motorcycle was driven by a policeman. On duty. Going faster than the flow of traffic.

The Italian sausage wanted to high-five a grandmother and her 4-year-old granddaughter, but he was instead struck by the moving policeman. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Check it out.

Tsk, tsk, Officer. Gotta watch out for that giant sausage… Wonder if the sausage is going to press charges? For being manhandled…

Hi guys, Paul here again. I am going to show you a two-wheeled concept that was unveiled a couple of weeks ago that some of you may find interesting.

The Taurus Concept is a compact, urban-targeted, open-top, saddle-ridden vehicle balancing on two wheels. I know what you are thinking, a motorcycle right? Wrong.

The all-electric Taurus Concept is the brainchild of designer Erik Lanuza, who claims increasing city populations, traffic and pollution as problems his two-wheeler can solve.

To be honest, it’s basically a more stylish Segway with a saddle. When driven, it balances on two wheels, turns when you lean to one side and brakes when you lean back. So basically, you ride it like a bull.

Let’s be real here, the best way to sell this, is to have that hot chick in the skin tight outfit demonstrate riding the thing in a video. Rapidly.

“Save the environment, and look sexy doing it,” should be their motto. Stay tuned for more updates guys!

Hey guys, it’s Jon here again. Leslie Porterfield may look like the blond girl next door, but you will have to be quick to keep up with her, as she is the fastest girl on this planet on a standard motorcycle. Check her out!

A little back story on Leslie Porterfield. At the age of sixteen, she bought an old cruiser in boxes for $200, and reconstructed it because someone said it couldn’t be done.

So it is not surprising that at the age of 32, Leslie holds the fastest record on a motorcycle of any woman in the world and is the first woman to earn inclusion into the prestigious Bonneville 200 MPH Club on a conventional motorcycle.

But things didn’t comes easy for this easy on the eyes blond. After crashing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2007 and breaking seven ribs, puncturing a lung and suffering a concussion, Leslie was determined to set some records.

The record of 209 MPH on an unfaired motorcycle and again in 2009 with an unbelievable 240 MPH pass belong to Leslie. This is the first time in history a woman has taken the award.

Stay tuned for more updates! Go Leslie!

Hey guys, I was browsing around on YouTube and came across the following video. Check it out.

As you saw, the ZX6R rider is surprised by the parked CHP as he comes around a corner, attempts to brake and lowsides.

Now, I have mixed feelings about this. I know some of you may immediately say that it’s the CHP’s fault. I mean they are notorious, especially nowadays, to give as many tickets as possible. Hey, the state needs money right?

But then, there is the flip side. If the rider was riding within his abilities as well as the speed limit, then maybe the accident would not have happened.

The video was shot from far away so it is difficult to judge exactly how fast the rider was going, but it didn’t look that fast.

So, I guess both sides have something to think about. The CHP about their reputation as vengeful anti-motorcycle fanatics, and riders: Hey, if you’re not doing anything wrong, why should you be afraid of the cops? And cops, if the riders aren’t doing anything wrong, leave them alone!

Although in this case, I am sure every law enforcement agency will side with the CHP. After all, they didn’t do anything. They were just parked there (with the engine running). Right…?

Um, can you say posers? These man/he-she males are first of all, half staved. Secondly, non of them apparently know how to ride a motorcycle. the chick/dude up top is holding the clip ons backward.

What’s up people? Remember your first magic trick? The one where you freak out your mom by pulling the tablecloth out from under her glassware?

Well, here BMW claims they can do that with their new S1000rr. The thing goes from zero to 100km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds, so it may happen! They are dubbing the experiment XXXL.

Don’t try this at home with your dishes. Or your mom’s ones.

In the back of my mind, it’s just not that impressive. You don’t need a big powerful bike. Just use a longer rope and get a run at it. It’s just physics and math. BUT, I gotta give BMW for thinking that one up!

A heroic rider sitting in the passenger seat of his buddy’s motorcycle risks his life to prevent a train crash in Argentina.

The unidentified man was waiting on the back of his friend’s motorcycle at a railway crossing when a van stalled halfway across the tracks. He then jumped off the bike, pushed the van out of the way and only just missed being hit by a train in the process.

Sounds incredible right? Watch the video to see his amazingly close call:

Because of his heroic deed, I will refrain from commenting on how dumb it was to ride without a helmet or any safety gear for that matter. I will also reserve my commenst about two dudes riding on a motorcycle together…

I will however, point out what a complete wuss his buddy was. All he did was watch his friend risk his life, while he just backed his motorcycle up. In addition, WTF was the dude in the car doing? Howcome he didn’t get out of the car???

Hey guys, I thought this was pretty amusing. Looks like we aren’t the only ones with Police problems. This article is courtesy of MCN from across the pond.

A theft victim has been arrested for harassing a vehicle pound which is holding his stolen bike.

Michael Wheatley believes it should cost him nothing to get his stolen Honda Fireblade back after it was recovered by police within a mile of his home in Pitsea, Essex.

But it was taken to a pound over 10 miles away and by the time Wheatley was informed, he already faced a £160 recovery and storage bill, which he refused to pay.

Since then the unemployed courier has emailed and phoned Albert Road Recovery in South Ockendon over 70 times to demand the £2,000 1994 Blade back.

Now the bill for its release is £500 thanks to mounting storage charges – and Wheatley has been cautioned by police for harassment.

Wheatley, 46, said: “I phoned about 10 times but they wouldn’t take my calls or phone me back so I gave up on that and stuck to emails. I must have sent a couple a day for six weeks, so about 60 in total, maybe more.

“A typical email said: ‘I feel aggrieved that I’ve been the victim of a crime and yet I’m being charged to get my bike back.’

“Eventually they blocked my primary email address so I used another one to send a message saying: ‘I’m still not giving up. I’m going to follow this through right to the end and go to court if necessary.’

“It was then that police came to my home and arrested me.”

“I was fingerprinted, photographed, DNA tested, and cautioned under the Public Order Act.”

Recovery costs can usually be claimed back on insurance but Wheatley’s bike was uninsured when it was stolen from his garden in November.

He had taken it off the road to save money while he was out of work.

A manager at Albert Road Recovery referred MCN to the police, saying: “As far as I’m concerned we won’t comment on this whatsoever.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “A 46-year-old man was arrested on January 6 for a public order offence of harassment.

“He was later released having admitted the offence and agreeing to be dealt with by means of a caution.”

Johnstown, PA (BNSE): Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers “duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters,” according to police officials.

“Something just went wrong,” said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. “Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong.”

Hi guys! Here is a funny story I found on the Internet for you die-hard Rossi fans.

The massive Valentino Rossi snow sculpture shown below, won a recent competition for snow artists in the Italian town of Selva di Val Gardena.

The theme for 2009 was International Sports Personalities and this work of snow art was done by Samuel Perathoner to take the win with a second Rossi work – this time in profile – took second place for Matthias Kostner.

This was the 14th time the competition has run. How fun! Maybe we can compete next year!

The catch (or is it?), is that it comes with its own (mobile) garage, a 45meter transoceanic yacht! The New Antalya/Turkey-based Yacht manufacturer Sunrise Yachts (www.sunriseyachts.com), was founded by German Harley-Davidson and custom bike enthusiast Herbert Baum.

The incredible 45 meter yacht comes with a rear garage, which houses a rescue-boat, two jet skis and a custom Harley-Davidson, built and painted to match the boat’s livery.

The bike itself is based on a stock Harley Rocker with a cleaned-up frame, hand-fashioned fenders and fuel tank. It also features a foldable handlebar allowing the bike to be lifted in and out of ‘parking position’ in the small garage in the rear of the boat.

“We still will build our normal custom bikes for our customers, but this is a completely new market and we always welcome new impulses for markets yet unexplored,” said Eric Vauth of House of Thunder.

I’ll say! Stay tuned for more updates folks!

I know that it’s blasphemous to have a Monster headlight, and KTM fairings on a Triumph, but I got to give it to them in ingenuity. The rear wheel was removed in favor of a complex back track taken from an ATV.

What do you guys think of it?

The Tree Motorcycles by Shi Jinsong are a collection of two motorcycles with a tree for their frame and working motorcycle parts within. It’s not clear, however, if Jinsong’s bikes road legal or even functioning.

The artist himself said of the project: “I just want to know what a big tree – which is four or five meters long – with a speed of more than one hundred km per hour looks like”. You’re looking at it: the fastest tree in history. Eat your hearts out, treefolk from LoTR!

Hey, any chance we could take one for a ride, Mr. Jinsong? Stay tuned for more updates!

Hey guys, this is Jon here again with some funny motorcycle news. You think your bike is a piece of crap? Well, I’ll tell you what, it’s got nothing on this modified Honda SH125i used by Islington Council (UK) to wash and then suck up dog waste from pavements!

The Poover has a topbox and a long tube which delivers first a jet of water to loosen the offending turd, and then a hoover mechanism sucks the mess away, saving sandal wearers everywhere.

According to the Islington Council, the Poover boasts a 25-liter capacity.

“While many residents do the right thing and clean up after their pets, there are still some people who leave the mess behind which is unsightly and unpleasant. Our street sweepers work very hard, seven days a week and the Poover is another way Islington Council is tackling the issue.”

Let’s hope they don’t leave the Honda unattended on the street. A smart vandal could easily tweak the SH125i logo to read something far more obscene…Hahahaha!
