Hey guys, Jon here again with yet another concept vehicle. The BMW concept scooter, the C1-E, is to make its debut across the pond at the National BikeSafe Motorcycle Show this month.

The C1-E concept is based on the existing C1, however with an electric motor, which gets its power from a lithium-ion battery, which BMW say provides, “enough power to master inner-city traffic with ease, or alternatively the vehicle can also be equipped with a low-emissions internal combustion engine.

The safety features have also been enhanced, with the C1-E boasting a roll-over bar spanning the rider, combined with energy-absorbing features at the front, as well as a rider harness.

For those of you in the area, the National BikeSafe Motorcycle Show this year is at the Sheffield Arena on 12th and 13th of this month.

Speed Cameras Inaccurate in Cold Weather

Hi guys, while this news wouldn’t help us here in the Bay, it might help you riders in the areas that are much colder. Now keep in mind that this is from across the pond, so this may not apply here in the states but it never hurts to try, right?

So anyways, motorcyclists caught speeding during the cold snap could soon have grounds to appeal, after UK car driver Andrew Fowler embarked on a landmark case to prove the readings from speed cameras could be wrong in sub-zero temperatures.

Fowler, 48, was clocked doing 41mph in a 30mph zone in Cambridge in February last year, but was sure his speedometer was reading around the 30mph mark. Humph, how many times has this happened to all of us?

Well, Fowler, an electrical engineer, claims that cameras can give false readings when the temperature drops below 0°C.

He believes the cameras are calibrated for accuracy between 0°C and 70°C, and at lower temperatures vital circuitry timing slows down, meaning the second flash was more than the half a second gap after the first flash when he passed the camera at -5°C, making it appear he was traveling faster than he was.

He claims “If it’s so cold, the capacitor on the circuit can’t hold its charge or is damaged, the flash will not go off in time.

Wow, if this case succeeds in proving that cameras are suspect below a certain temperature, the flood gates will open. And not just in the UK either. It’s delicate, so stay tuned and we’ll let you know what happens.

      Motorcycle Insurance

Hey, what’s going on guys? Today I wanted to let you know the importance of having full coverage bike insurance, especially nowadays.

I know times are tough, and the first thing cut from our arsenal as riders, is pretty much down to either track time and/or insurance. I mean, let’s face it, I sure as hell am not going to skimp on my bike payments and lose my ride! Are you?

Well, I’ve got news for some of you. Motorbike insurance isn’t a choice. You must have a policy taken out on your bike in order to drive legally. On top of that, if you do get into an accident, or if some idiot hits you, you may end up losing your bike one way or the other anyways, if you don’t have insurance.

Jobs are scarce and money is tight. Don’t add the trouble of the cost of fixing your motorcycle, or paying for someone else’s bill, to the list. Get covered.

What should you get? Well, liability coverage is mandatory. Collision insurance, comprehensive coverage and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage are optional coverages that you may wish to add to your policy.

Liability Insurance covers any damage or injury you may cause to property or other people in the event you are deemed to be at-fault in an accident or collision. However, it doesn’t cover you or your motorcycle. Some policies may include coverage for a guest passenger as well, but this is not guaranteed.

You can also add collision insurance to your policy to cover your motorcycle if liability insurance isn’t enough to help you sleep soundly at night. Collision insurance pays for damage to your motorcycle, less your deductible. Even if the damage is your fault, this coverage will still apply.

Comprehensive Coverage protects your bike from non-accident related perils; including fire, theft and acts of vandalism.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage provides protection should you become involved in an accident caused by another driver, and the other driver is either without insurance or has inadequate insurance coverage. This provisional coverage will help pay for medical treatment, lost wages and other damages to you and your passengers. If your policy includes uninsured motorist property damage coverage, your bike would be protected as well.

Take your pick guys, but don’t skimp.

      Stay tuned for more updates.

Hi guys, Paul here again. Looks like the MV Agusta F3 has been spied at Almeria once again. This time it’s looking a little closer to production despite Harley Davidson holding the MV brand in limbo. Anyways, so what’s new this time? How about the three-exit GP exhaust? Check it out.

        Photobucket

It appears, at least judging by these pictures, that the F3 uses a similar frame arrangement to the F4, which means a tubular steel trellis attached to cast aluminum swingarm pivot plates.

According to MV Agusta USA spokesperson Matthew Stutzman, the F3 project is essentially stalled in an advanced stage of development, awaiting a successful sale and a fresh injection of Euros or dollars before it can be rolled out to the public.

According to our latest information, Claudio Castiglioni and Federico Minoli have been joined in competing for MV ownership by two anonymous American entrepreneurs.

        Stay tuned for more updates.

What’s up people? For those of you that don’t know, the Playboy Playmate of the Year traditionally receives a car as part of her prize. Not this year. This year’s vehicle prize in the form of a BMW S1000rr goes to American model Hope Dworaczyk.

          Photobucket

The 25-year-old Texan has not only been selected as Playboy magazine’s ‘Playmate of the Year’, she won $100,000 and a was given a the keys to a brand new BMW S1000rr.

I don’t know if it’s just the bad economy, but I guess it’s good news for biking as it’s the first time in 45 years that the Playmate of the Year has been given a motorcycle instead of a car.

It is not certain if she’s got her bike license yet, but I am willing to be her tutor!

          Stay tuned for more updates.
