Project Shadowblade

The IPM team is proud to present its newest endeavor, Project Shadowblade. We will, over the course of the next few months, replicate a 2009 Honda CBR1000RR from the bottom up. It’s a feat we’ve already accomplished with the building of Project Daytona 675. With Project Shadowblade, we’re looking forward to even better results.

Last weekend we received the first part of the new bike: a donated CBR1000RR chassis. It took a good twenty minutes to strip it down and clean it up (see video above), and now all we have to do is drop it off for a nice paint job. Straying from the traditional blacks, reds and greens, we’ve opted for an eerie bone-white, or Honda silver, something to really set this machine apart.

The other task ahead of us will be sourcing and assembling the remainder of the parts. It’ll take some skillful sleuthing, a little outside help, and a whole lot of funds, but we at IPM are confident we can pull everything together to produce a lean, mean motorcycle worthy of our already-impressive tradition of Triumphs, Suzukis, Ducatis and KTMs. A Honda, you say? It’s about time.

Stay tuned for frequent updates from the IPM garage. As always, your support is appreciated!

Hi guys! This special Ducati Hypermotard from Red Dog Superbikes was built for a new film called ‘Fight Back‘, set to star Vinnie Jones and Danny Dyer.

To compliment the one-off graffiti paint job, the Red Dog Hypermotard is covered in carbon fiber; the rear hugger, engine casing, side panels, tank cover and mudguard.

It also boasts racing rearsets, a taller screen, LED indicators, a steering damper, non-standard comfort seat and a slipper clutch.

The movie ‘Fight Back‘, is an action movie about a man who returns home from serving with the Royal Marine Commandos to find his local area crippled by gangs and violence.

According to the film’s producer, Martin J. Thomas, the lead character “puts his military training to good use and embarks on a brutal crusade to take down corrupt police, drug dealers and organized crime.”

Fight Back is expected to start filming in May 2010 and will feature several motorcycles provided by Red Dog Superbikes.

Hey guys, it’s Jon again with another funny video. Check out this home made video of a self assembling Suzuki Gsx-R. Pretty impressive I must say!

The whole film time was roughly over 30 hours. The bike ran on first start-up too, I am told! Just in case you were curious, the music is by Peter Gabriel called Sledgehammer.

          How to Adjust Ride Height

What’s up guys? Ever since I started riding sportbikes, I have had the problem of being on my tippy toes. It never really bothered me except for when I first started learning to ride. Since then, I’ve just gotten used to it.

It really wasn’t until 2006 or so when Suzuki came out with sportbikes that had a lower seat. Wow, the difference was night and day. I swore I was able to go at least twice as fast (which of course, meant twice as many accidents). Maybe it was a mental thing, because my confidence level shot up by beng able to plant my feet fully to the pavement. I’s not that I’m really short or anything (5’10″). I guess I’m just not as tall as the Europeans that most sportbikes were made for.

Anyways, since I’m the sole rider of the RC8, I thought that I needed to be comfortable pushing it, to give you some accurate real world opinions. So, my first step was to lower it a bit (no, I hate lowering links, and would never do that to any bike of mine).

Not so bad right? Pretty easy. I am glad that KTM understands that riding fast is all about molding the bike to the rider. They have gone to great lengths to make the RC8′s ergonomics accommodating. In addition to the rear subframe being adjustable, the clutch, brake, rear brake pedal and shifter are also adjustable. Those are next!
