What’s up people? The new Aprilia Tuono V4, the naked version of the Aprilia RSV4, has been spotted testing at the Mugello circuit in Italy. Man, and we haven’t even gotten the RSV4 here yet!

The new Aprilia Tuono and the Aprilia RSV4 R – the base model to the more expensive RSV4 Factory – were both being tested.

Both models are based on the current Aprilia RSV4 Factory, but look to feature lower-spec components to keep the price down. Probably bye-bye to Ohlins, lower spec Brembos, and cheap Marchesini’s.

Check back soon as we’ll be bringing you more news on the Aprilia Tuono V4 and RSV4 R as it becomes available.

      675 Damaged Again!

Hey guys. What is it about summer that makes people crash motorcycles? First Big Matt (well, the verdict is still out on him), and now Dave. I had a bad feeling when he asked to borrow the 675 last Saturday, to “show off.” But, Dave has always struck me as the responsible type, so I let him take it.

Tuesday rolls around and he arrives at the garage to switch back to his KTM. The first thing out of his mouth was, “You’re going to hate me.” Being as it was Dave, I replied, “You got another ticket.”

And that’s when I noticed it: he had dropped the Daytona. Give me a break! I thought. You have got to be fucking kidding me. Hope your insurance covers the damages, bro. Seriously. Don’t be a bad influence, I thought.

      Photobucket

The gentlemanly thing to have done, was to offer to pay for the repairs right there and then. That would have been the courteous thing to do. I mean, Dave’s not some 24 year-old, irresponsible kid from the suburbs. Could have been the shock, adrenaline pumping, not thinking straight, and what-not. Kinda understandable.

I know I’ve said this numerous times in the past few years: Don’t let people borrow your bike. I guess I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. People are inherently moral, right? Bullshit! What’s the saying? Nice guys always finish last.

I guess it could have been a lot worse, and of course, I’m glad that Dave didn’t seriously disfigure himself or another rider. I’m just surprised. Dave’s always been the responsible one. What happened? Was it because it wasn’t his bike? No, that can’t be it. He’s better than that.

      Photobucket

That just goes to show guys, motorcycle mishaps can happen to the best of us. Good job Dave, for minimizing the damage. He appears to be a good guy. The situation just sucks ass.

Anyways guys, stay tuned for more updates on the 675. Starting next post, you’ll see how we restore and upgrade the Daytona. Ride safe!

For more Triumph fun, be sure to log on to the Triumph Boards!

Oh, I forgot to show the the worst part. The picture is enlarged below to give you the full view. When the Daytona was laid down, the super cool, super limited edition, sparkly reflective silver IPM decal was scratched through! Do you know what that does to it’s collectible value?!? Not only is it no longer in mint or NM condition, it is torn! It’s worthless! Oh, the humanity…

        What Would Fonzi Wear?

I’ve been meaning to write about my Dainese jacket you may have caught in some of the videos we’ve posted. Now that IPM has taken them to the tailor to be outfitted with some sweet patches, I thought it would be a good time to introduce the gear. But first a little back story:

I had a red textile Dainese for the last two years which I was basically swimming in. You guessed it, I picked it up the same day as my oversized KBC. I had just passed the MSF riding safety course and Cycle Gear gave me a good discount, if you flash them your certificate of completion. I had just bought my first bike and I was itching to get on the damn thing. The point of contention is that I could understand how the sales guys could have missed the poor fit on the helmet, but there was no way that jacket fit me when I walked out of the store. I was sold the wrong product.

Two years later, inspired once again by the Speedy to upgrade, I approached they guys at Cycle Gear and brought up this point. There was nothing technically wrong with the jacket. I felt I had gotten kind of screwed on the deal. If they had sold me the right size in the first place, I wouldn’t have a reason to upgrade. I wasn’t 100% satisfied and I wanted some retribution. I went back and forth with the sales guy for a couple of days and built up my case, asking him to bring it up with his manager. They were willing to take my jacket back and give me partial credit towards the purchase of new one, and when I pressed a little further, I was able to knock off the sales tax. In the end, I got my hands on a beautiful black summer Dainese leather jacket for a little under $280. Which in my book, is an incredible deal. The new jacket fits like a glove and looks great. Eeeeeyiii! On some day,s it’s a little cold for the Bay Area as its perforated, but Duh,it is a summer jacket.

          Turbo Diesel Yamaha?

Yamaha is developing an inline-four intercooled and turbocharged diesel engine, according to patents recently made known to us.

          Photobucket

The Japanese manufacturer has filed a number of patents in the United States, including one which appears to have an intercooler located above the engine or concealed in the frame and a turbocharger mounted adjacent to the cylinder head.

The patent, is not a guarantee the bike will be put in to production. But who knows, you could be scooting round town on a diesel powered Yamaha in no time! Stay tuned!
